Course Objectives

• Recognize when a person is in cardiac arrest and provide immediate, definitive care
• Recognize when a person is in respiratory arrest and provide immediate, definitive care
• Perform high quality CPR and other evidence-based BLS techniques
• Prioritize chest compressions in cardiac arrest management
• Understand the role of and be able to use an AED or manual defibrillator
• Evaluate the quality of resuscitation and adjust as needed
• Effectively communicate as a team during resuscitation
• Identify and appropriately manage tachyarrhythmias and bradyarrhythmia’s
• Recognize and triage acute coronary syndrome
• Understand the treatment pathways for acute coronary syndrome
• Recognize the signs of stroke
• Initiation of early and timely stroke management
• Respond to suspected opioid overdose
