BLS – Basic Life Support

BLS certification is a medical training course that teaches healthcare providers and first responders how to perform high-quality CPR, use an AED, and respond to choking and cardiac emergencies for adults, children, and infants.

Whether you’ll need this course as a Healthcare Professional, for your workplace or if you’re just interested in learning—you’ll find everything you’ll need for standard procedures.

Remember, when performing the skills you’re about to learn, every second counts. So, unless required otherwise, don’t hesitate to call 911 or perform CPR and/or apply First-Aid.

Why Nationwide Health Training for AHA BLS Certification?

The certification course and study materials offered by Nationwide Health Training were created by medical professionals using current emergency cardiac care guidelines as set forth by the medical governing body. The topics include single person and team rescuer basic life support skills, high-quality CPR, team dynamics, condition-based algorithms and out-of-hospital rescue protocol.

Nationwide Health Training courses are reviewed and updated every 5 years. The BLS guidelines were last changed in 2020 and will not be updated again until 2025. Our course reflects the 2020 changes.

Notable updates and new guidelines were:

🔹 High-Quality CPR for Adults, Children, and Infants
🔹 Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
🔹 Rescue Breathing & Bag-Mask Ventilation
🔹 Relief of Choking (Heimlich Maneuver)
🔹 Two-Rescuer CPR and Team Dynamics
🔹 Patient management with suspected opioid overdose

*The aforementioned changes will be covered in more detail within our course materials and are just a snippet of the actual update. It is not meant to be used for the treatment of cardiac emergency victims

Start Your Online BLS Certification

Our BLS certification course is offered completely online and is an ideal option for individuals who have busy work schedules and can’t attend in-person classes. The BLS certification course and exam are available 24-hours a day, no prior scheduling is required. We receive a lot of questions from individuals asking what the difference between CPR and BLS certification training and which course they are required to take.

BLS is more advanced usually for nurses or EMT professionals with advanced cardiopulmonary techniques and training. BLS CPR certification training will cover areas that are general cardiopulmonary resuscitation techniques for everybody. Examples of these topics are team dynamics, in-hospital procedures and administering oxygen. If you are unsure of which course you are required to take, we always recommend the BLS certification course. It is better to be over-prepared than under-prepared.

Renewal of BLS Certification Online

To ensure that healthcare professionals are up-to-date on pediatric resuscitation developments, we offer online training courses for recertification. Recertification is required every two years to maintain compliance with your organization or facility. We recommend renewing at least 15 days before expiration to remain current.
